JD Lewis Facility | Project Spotlight

Overview

The JD Lewis Facility serves as a place where young athletes and families gather with purpose, and where the first few steps through the doors set the tone for everything that follows. This project focused on shaping that arrival moment, creating an environment that feels intentional, motivating, and aligned with the mission happening inside the building.

A key driver behind the vision was David West, a former NBA player whose career includes two NBA championships and two NBA All-Star selections. His involvement was hands-on throughout the process, from shaping the messaging to refining the overall direction so the lobby and entry experience matched the standard of excellence he expects for the athletes coming through the facility.

Project Goals + Background

This facility is closely tied to the Garner Road Basketball Club, an organization centered on developing young athletes through discipline, teamwork, leadership, and character. The goal for phase one was to bring that identity forward immediately, using full-coverage graphics on the entry doors and a cohesive series of wall wraps that carry the same energy across the entire lobby.

From the start, the scope demanded more than “one big wall.” The lobby included long runs of wall space broken up by doors, columns, a trophy case area, TV locations, a power-box alcove, and other fixed elements that had to stay functional. Pre-install planning mattered: walls needed touch-ups, items needed to be moved, and the install sequence had to be staged so the space could stay organized and protected while multiple sections were completed over a two-day installation window.

Process + Solutions Delivered

  • Wall Wraps: Designed, produced, and installed tiled wall wraps across the lobby walls, columns, and smaller architectural areas to create one continuous, purpose-driven experience from entry to gym access points.
  • Storefront Graphics: Produced and installed full-coverage graphics on the entry doors to elevate the first impression while still supporting visibility and function.
  • Creative Services: Collaborated closely with David West and the facility team to refine layouts, content hierarchy, and visual flow so the space felt bold without becoming cluttered.
  • Professional Installation: Executed a coordinated, multi-day install plan that accounted for wall prep requirements, obstructions, and sequencing across many individual panels.

Final Outcome

The completed lobby now delivers a consistent story the moment someone arrives. Instead of isolated graphics, the doors and wall wraps work together to create a unified visual rhythm, with messaging, motion, and brand elements placed intentionally so the space feels focused and energizing rather than busy.

Just as importantly, the environment reflects the leadership and purpose behind the program. With David West’s active direction and the facility team’s preparation, the end result supports the athlete experience: a stronger sense of identity at the point of entry, a clearer tone of discipline and motivation throughout the lobby, and a space that better reinforces what the organization stands for.
