Driven Brands: Project Spotlight

The talented team of designers and sign installers at Heritage Signs & Displays collaborated with Driven Brands to provide new interior branding for their headquarters in Uptown Charlotte, NC. The custom signage experts installed high-quality elevator wraps, frosted vinyl graphics, wayfinding signage, wall wraps, LED backlit signs, dimensional letters, and standoff mounted signs.

Driven Brands: A Leader in Automotive Aftermarket Service

Driven Brands is the parent company of leading automotive service brands such as Meineke Car Care Centers, Take 5 Oil Change, Maaco, Auto Glass Now, Take 5 Car Wash, and many more. Driven Brands provides a full suite of automotive services across paint, collision, glass, vehicle repair, oil change, maintenance, and car wash to consumers and business customers.

Driven Brands partnered with Heritage Signs & Displays to update their corporate interior branding with new adhesive vinyl graphics to represent Driven Brands’ connection to the automotive services industry and the company’s values. The Heritage team was eager to execute this vision with new custom displays and commercial interior graphics.

An Extensive Installation for a Newly Branded Corporate Headquarters

The rebranding effort for Driven Brands involved several components with unique signage elements to accompany them. The project scope included the following sign installation initiatives on the 5th, 6th, and 7th floors:

  • ID room plaques
  • Frosted vinyl graphics
  • Elevator wraps
  • Training room divider wall
  • Training room wall graphic
  • Training room magnetic display
  • Large dimensional letters
  • LED backlit corporate timeline

Each component of the interior redesign required the expertise of the Heritage team of professional commercial signage specialists, as well as materials that would endure over time and amplify Driven Brands’ space.

The frosted vinyl graphics were contour cut and first surface applied to the office interior glass of board rooms and other meeting spaces. The magnetic vinyl was created from 3M 40C adhesive vinyl, UV printed, matte laminated, rectangular cut, and installed to the walls of one of the meeting rooms. The divider wall had 3M 40C wall graphics applied to the surfaces of the walls. The graphics were UV printed, matte laminated, rectangular cut, and installed. Each elevator wrap was made from 3M adhesive magnetic vinyl, UV printed, rectangular cut, and applied to the elevator doors and surrounding wall space.

The room plaques were made of 3mm clear acrylic and frosted vinyl to properly label the office rooms with the proper floor numbers, room numbers, and color coding to maintain brand consistency. Each plaque was PMS match printed and gloss laminated. The numbers were contour cut and installed with standoff caps applied to the face of the sign. The plaques were securely mounted to the glass and walls to maintain three-dimensional depth.

The Results of a Transformed Space

On the week of the installation, the Heritage team worked tirelessly to install these signage elements in the Driven Brands headquarters. Each signage element was affixed to the installation site with care and with Driven Brands’ goals for a transformed and engaging space in mind at every stage of the process. The team’s hard work was exemplified in the resulting signage, which added to the professionalism and brand consistency in the space. Driven Brands’ connection to the automotive industry was amplified consistently on the 5th, 6th, and 7th floors to captivate partners, franchisees, employees, and visitors alike.

Line-X: Project Spotlight

The team of corporate signage experts at Heritage Signs & Displays recently collaborated with the staff at Line-X to create and install new banners, wall displays, frosted vinyl graphics, and wayfinding signs for their Franchise Support Center in Charlotte, NC.

The Line-X brand is a tough and durable spray-on bedliner for boats, trailers, motorcycles, and just about anything that needs protection from the harshest elements. Line-X products have numerous applications for the manufacturing industry and the military, as well as providing truck accessories through the Truck Gear product line.

Line-X’s Franchise Support Center in Charlotte is an office location for Line-X franchise owners to receive support for their store locations across the United States. The goal for the updated corporate interior was to reflect Line-X’s commitment to consumer and commercial service, as well as excellence in the workplace with new wall wraps, hanging pole banners, and other adhesive vinyl graphics to reflect the company’s values.

When the sign installation professionals at Heritage Signs & Displays were contacted to update the interior of the Line-X Franchise Support Center, we got to work creating new custom signs that would suit the company’s goals.

The custom-painted HDU Line-X logo was securely affixed to the building’s exterior using scissor lifts to display the company logo proudly above the facility’s windows.

The hanging pole banners were created using double-sided vinyl that was securely bound and hung from the ceiling using pole pockets. The banners displayed the company values for the sake of encouraging positive employee morale in a way that matched the official colors and branding.

Four wall murals were created highlighting Line-X’s place in the consumer and commercial automotive industries and integrated with their facility to make the experiential graphics seamless and immersive.

Standoff mounted Associate of the Quarter signs were installed to highlight which employees performed in an exemplary manner in each quarter.

Frosted vinyl window graphics were applied to the exterior doors and foyer glass to amplify Line-X’s corporate branding throughout the space.

Vinyl graphics were utilized in the updating of the names on existing directional signs.

The Heritage sign installers adhered to our time-honed procedures for speedy and efficient sign installations, communicating with the Line-X staff to make sure that their signage was custom-cut to fit their space and reflected their automotive branding effectively. We conducted a site survey beforehand and collaborated with the staff at every stage to ensure complete satisfaction with the results of our work.

Upon completion of the interior graphics update, the staff members at the Line-X Franchise Support Center were pleased with the results of the Heritage team’s work. Line-X looks forward to continued branding collaborations with our talented sign installation professionals.

Why Is It Called a Step and Repeat Banner?

The origin of the term “step and repeat” has two sources. The first is that Hollywood stars would step up to have their photos taken, then would step down and the next star would repeat the same action to have their photo taken. The second origin for “step and repeat” comes from the graphic design industry to describe a graphical element that repeats across a particular printed item.

Step and repeat banners are an extremely popular type of event signage because they are easy to assemble, highly customizable, and perfect for photos at any special event. But how did they get their name?

Step and Repeat Banner

The origin of the term “step and repeat” has two sources. The first is that Hollywood stars would step up to have their photos taken, then would step down and the next star would repeat the same action to have their photo taken. The second origin for “step and repeat” comes from the graphic design industry to describe a graphical element that repeats across a particular printed item. The repeated logos or imagery would be used to create copies printed across a large sheet, cut, and bound into printed banners, backdrops, or other custom event displays.

The Origin of Step and Repeat Backdrops

Step and repeat backdrops themselves have been in use for decades. Their primary usage has been to promote the sponsors of events, but they are also popular when used as red carpet backdrops for event photos, which usually last longer than the backdrops themselves and ensure brand longevity. Over time, step and repeat banners became essential event displays because of their branding power and the high level of engagement they get with attendees. Step and repeat banners are powerful opportunities for companies and event sponsors to display their logos prominently and memorably.

Assembling a Step and Repeat Banner

How Are Step and Repeat Banners Made and Assembled?

Step and Repeat Banners Made and Assembled
Step and repeat banners are made by printing an approved pattern onto either vinyl or fabric before then being stitched or bound. The finished step and repeat banner can be rolled if made of vinyl or folded in a bag if made of fabric. The backdrop will have a top and bottom pole pocket. The horizontal bars of the banner stand can slide through the pole pockets and attach to the banner stand’s vertical bars. Extend and tighten the telescoping bars and the backdrop is ready for use!

What’s the Difference Between a Step and Repeat and a Hop-Up Display?

Hop-up displays are engineered to be assembled and disassembled quickly and reused many times. Hop-up displays come in a plastic or canvas case with wheels, allowing them to be assembled by removing the hop-up from the case and set face up on the floor. The opposing corners can be pulled apart until the fabric is stretched tightly. Compressing the corners together is all it takes to reduce the hop-up back to its compact size.

Step-and-Repeat-and-a-Hop-Up-Display
Hop-ups are similar to step and repeat banners in terms of their function, but hop-ups are more expensive because they are intended to last longer than step and repeats typically do and they’re even easier to set up and take down. Depending on how much you intend to reuse your hop-up display or step and repeat banners as well as your budget, both types of event backdrops can be used to add immense branding value to your event.
